Who this is for
You certify people and qualify procedures for other companies: a certification body, an ISO/IEC 17024 scheme owner, an examination centre, or a third party qualifying welding procedures.
Your product is a decision, that this welder or procedure meets a standard, and a certificate the supply chain can trust.
Welder certification
You certify welders to ISO 9606-1 or ASME IX: an examination, a designation built from the qualified variables, and a certificate with a validity window. Under ISO/IEC 17024 the audit is about governance:
- a qualified invigilator witnesses the examination;
- examiner, evaluator and decision-maker are different people;
- each certificate stays bound to the scheme revision it was issued under.
Validity is where certificates quietly lapse: continuity, six-month evidence, revalidation and recertification are exact rules a spreadsheet can’t hold.
Procedure qualification
You qualify procedures to ISO 15614-1 or ASME IX: a test, an evaluated WPQR/PQR, and a qualified range computed from the essential variables.
The range is the point: one test covers a band of production, so “does this WPS cover this joint” is a calculation, not a filing question.
