Who this is for
You build pressure equipment, such as vessels, piping and assemblies above 0.5 bar, under the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU. Some ships to Europe with a CE mark; some exports under ASME.
The work is welding, NDT and inspection. The regime is a layer over it that decides how independently the work must be proven.
The regime you live under
PED puts each item in a risk category, I to IV, which selects the conformity module and the notified body’s role. In the shop that means:
- Joining procedures must be approved: from category II up, by a notified body or a recognised third-party organisation (RTPO).
- Welders and operators must be approved by the same route.
- NDT personnel on permanent joints must be RTPO-approved for categories III and IV.
For export you carry ASME IX in parallel, with ISO 3834 underneath. Worgify switches all three on per job.
The specific pain of proving it
The trap is category creep: a design change that raises the category can invalidate approvals that were correct the day before.
Worgify computes qualified ranges from the essential variables. It answers “does this procedure, this welder, this route cover this joint, in this category, on this date”, and the approving body travels with the record. The technical file builds as you work:
- the category basis and the module;
- the procedures and personnel valid on the date;
- NDT by the required route;
- material documents to EN 10204.
