The words this industry uses without explaining them

Written for the person who has to produce the document, not for the person who already knows what it is called.

Acceptance criteria The rules that say whether a flaw in a weld is acceptable.

Concession The client's permission to accept something that does not meet the requirements.
Continuity (of qualification) Proof the welder kept welding, so the qualification stays valid.

Essential variable A parameter that, if it changes beyond a limit, needs a new qualification.
EXC — Execution Class The class, EXC1 to EXC4, that sets how strict the work on a steel structure must be.

Filler metal (consumable) The material melted in to form the weld: wires, electrodes, rods.

NCR — Nonconformance Report The report that records something wrong, and how it is fixed.

PQR — Procedure Qualification Record The record of the test proving a welding procedure works.

Traceability Being able to trace a weld back to who made it, how, and with which material.
