Witness point
A point in an inspection and test plan where a nominated party is invited to attend, but where work may continue if they do not.
The obligation is to give notice, correctly and in time. Once the notice period has passed, absence does not stop production.
Most disputes about witness points are really disputes about whether notice was given properly — which is why the notice, its recipient and its timestamp matter as much as the attendance.
